The subject of history takes a meticulous journey that leads one back through a disciplined process of inquiry into the past and develops students’ curiosity and imagination. Being mindful of history is an indispensable peculiarity of any society. Consequently, historical knowledge is central to understanding ourselves and others. The curriculum provides a study of history from a period in ancient history to the beginnings of the modern history as major civilizations around the world came into contact with each other. On this subject, students are taken way back in time to the exciting historical times of some of the greatest empires in africa: ghana empire, mali empire and songhai empire. They will be taught about how the social, economic, religious and political beliefs of these empires were often challenged and significantly changed through the factors that led to the rise and fall of these empires while learning about the socio-political structure of each of these historic empires.
